Road Ensemble
Road Ensemble, established in 2015 in Jyväskylä, Finland, specialises in performing Iranian and Kurdish folk music. The ensemble has been actively involved in showcasing Iranian music through concerts, workshops, and lectures across Finland introducing the old scales, rich melodies and diverse rhythms of the Middle East region.


Yr Awen
(A Finnish Medieval music band based in Jyväskylä)
Farshad Sanati, a Santour player and ethnomusicologist based in Jyväskylä, has collaborated with the medieval music ensemble Yr Awen in several cross-cultural performances. Their collaboration includes the “Silk Road” project, where they explored musical traditions from across the ancient trade routes. By combining Persian and medieval European elements, Farshad brought a unique timbre and cultural depth to Yr Awen’s historically informed performances.


Santour Taivaan Tähti
Founded in 2018 in Jyväskylä by Farshad Sanati and his Santour students, promotes the Santour and the rich traditions of Iranian and Middle Eastern music. Through performances and workshops, the group introduces audiences to the history, scales, and rhythms of the region, fostering cultural appreciation and musical dialogue. Their work bridges traditions, blending education with artistic expression to highlight the beauty of this heritage.


An Entry to Iranian Music
Series of lectures in the museum of impossible form in Helsinki by the name of “An Entry to Iranian Music”, which were about the theory and History of Persian music during the last 10 centuries
